32Red Casino Review

We’re with the big boys with this one. The 32Red Casino is one of the biggest names in the world of online casinos. Go to their website and you’ll see two of Britain’s biggest entertainment names, (troubled) Ant and (not troubled) Dec as the star faces of this hugely professional and shiny website.

The company does a massive amount of promotion, not on its site, but in massively visible public sponsorship deals. For example, the 2018-19 season in the English Championship football division saw the casino’s name on the shirts of five teams, making it possible to watch hours of football and to bet on them against yourself!

That’s not the end of it, the company is everywhere on TV and in advertisements.

It’s been in the news too, for being hit with a £2 million fine from UK gambling regulators for not offering help to a problem gambler (in fact, offering him lots of marketing information).

A Swedish company called Kindred owns the company, which is based in Malta.

They’re massive! And Kindred Group PLC is even more massive, running 32Red, and a load of side operations (including bingo, sport, and poker rooms under the 32Red brand, and some other gambling/gaming sites under different names, for example, Roxy Palace).

Let’s find out more in our 32Red Casino review.

Is 32Red Casino Safe?

How do you tell if a casino is safe or not?

The first thing you should do is check out what the site looks like. Scam sites are usually thrown together and are very poor quality, often based around one game. Scam sites are reluctant to let you look around and assess the site.

32Red Casino very obviously has none of these problems. It’s a big, beautifully made site, with lots of quality.

You should also see how much you can find out about the company. Again, 32Red are a highly respected and well-known brand, based in the EU – in the capital of gaming, Malta – and with a full postal address clearly posted on the site.

Then you need to check the licensing. You must never play at a site that does not have a valid UK gaming licence.

So does 32Red? Of course!

There is a licence in Gibraltar, which has been held since 2002. The move to UK licences has been relatively recent. The UK stopped accepting overseas licences for sites selling to UK customers. So, we have 32Red with their licence, which they list on their site, and helpfully number, as 39430.

What they don’t list on their site is the fact that there is a note on the licence relating to the incidents we mentioned in our intro. This amounted to “weaknesses in its responsible gambling and anti-money laundering controls, which meant that licence conditions were breached. As a result, 32Red agreed to a penalty package totalling £2mil.”

OK, so that’s not a great look. We would say though, that these penalties are probably not as uncommon as you might think. In fact, they’re relatively common in our view. That’s not good, and it’s not an excuse, but it probably does reflect this relatively new switch to the UK jurisdiction where the rules are stricter.

The case is worth looking at. In it, a UK gambler got into problems with his gambling, and 32Red was judged not to have done enough to help him.

This man was a very big spender with the company and had a relationship that not many standard players will have. He told staff that he “spent too much” but was not only allowed to keep gambling but also offered him some extras.

In the course of investigating this, it seemed that 32Red online casino didn’t do enough to check that the customer’s money came from legitimate sources. The customer put nearly £50,000 in his account in one month!

In the end, the company did suspend the player, but according to the UK Gambling Commission, they’d ignored 22 chances to intervene.

The company says it’s doing better. And there are no further black marks.

This is a good introduction to how regulation works and the extent to which online casino sites do have to monitor their customers.

The licence also confirms that the company owns other brands, including a number of inactive sites, like Casino Splendido, Dash Casino, Goldenlounge.com, and Nedplay.

We still don’t believe that the site is in any way unsafe. In fact, it’s almost a good sign that the regulator is acting – and making serious punishments – on this sort of conduct.

It’s a good reminder as well to keep an eye on your own gambling behaviour. Take this stuff seriously. It is possible to get addicted, at which point your judgement will be impaired. There is good advice available via online casino sites – including 32Red – and there’s never a bad time to look at it.

32Red Casino Welcome Bonus

The massive amount of publicity around 32Red online casino is largely based on the thing that massive amounts of publicity in the gambling industry are almost always based around welcome bonuses!

The big one at the moment for 32Red Casino; the one which Ant and Dec are waving around on their front page is a no-deposit bonus. We will cover that in the section below.

The more traditional first deposit bonus is – for once – not expressed as a percentage, but rather as a free £32 in bonus funds for every £10 that you deposit. (In our maths that’s a 320% welcome bonus!)

You can claim as much as £160 free.

There are – of course – restrictions on this “free” cash.

The first is a deposit method: you must use a debit or credit card or PayPal to open your account. You must opt-in to accept the bonus. (This might seem an odd option to have, but some players find the restrictions on bonus funds and their use so onerous that they would rather not have them, they’d rather just get in and play the game.)

In the case of 32Red, you are introduced to a Fair Play system, which says there are no limits on withdrawing winnings won with your bonus, but you will have a limit placed on the size of the bets you can make.

Wagering requirements – called “play through” here – are an amount of money you must spend before you can consider bonus funds your own. As is common in most casino sites, 32Red Casino puts a weighting on this, so, for example, most versions of roulette contribute just 20% of the amount the player spends on them towards paying off your wagering requirement.

And the wagering requirement is 50x your bonus.

That means a minimum play through on a bonus of £1,600. And, if you only want to play roulette then you can multiply that by five.

This is why players sometimes decline bonuses.

Slots are worth 100%, with the exception of a relatively short list, for play through purposes, which is good news.

These terms always look awful when written down, but players soon get used to the idea that this is how the industry operates and start to factor in the very wide deficit between what most perceive the headline promise to be – which, if we (and the industry) were, to be honest, is “here’s a large amount of free money” – and the reality, which is here is some money, but in order to get it into your actual bank account in spending money you’ll need to commit so fully to the site that you’ll either have spent more money than the bonus is worth or you’ll be a customer who’s going to stick around, and therefore be worth cash to the site.

We recommend that players do seriously look at the terms on their bonuses and do seriously consider declining them in some cases. 32Red’s bonus only lasts for seven days, so your restrictions should end quite quickly too (think about the commitment in spending terms needed to clear that play through requirement in a week!). In our view, it’s probably worth accepting if you’re a new or newish player and fancy having a look around one of the biggest and best sites in the industry.

In fairness to 32Red, they do a very good job of explaining how the bonus works on their site. Much better than some other sites that we’ve seen, and they should be praised for that, just as we’ll criticise them for the very high multiple on the wagering requirement.

32Red free spins, no deposit and other promotions

Having gone through those restrictions when the casino site gets its hands on some of your money, you’ll be unsurprised that a no deposit bonus – when the site doesn’t get any of your cash – has even more restrictions on it.

(No business, in any sector, that has serious long-term plans ever gives its customer free money unless they’re very confident indeed that their customers are going to give them that money, and that they’re going to make a profit from it.)

Again, the offer looks great: just sign up and they’ll give you 10 quid to play with!

They also say that you can win cash with the 32Red casino bonus from casino games.

The same restrictions apply though. There’s a ceiling on your winnings of £100 – if you are lucky and get out with £100 that’s an amazing return, of course.

It’s also a return your very unlikely to get.

Again, no deposit bonuses are a wonderful way to get a free look around a casino. They’re particularly worthwhile if you’ve never used a casino site or want to try out a particular game and that game is included in the offer (check!). However, if you already know your way around gaming pretty well, you might want to just let them slide.

32Red online casino also offers an ongoing programme of promotions for its players. These – like the welcome bonus – are liable to change at any time. It’s likely to be a well-publicised change too as bonuses are, to be honest, the chief differentiators between sites that have broadly similar operations and even the same games.

Here you’ll find, promotions like the site’s loyalty programme, Mr Red Rewards, which gives “tailored rewards” to players as they deposit. The scheme is due to expire on January 31st so check in with what is currently running. Or hurry up and sign up.

Promotions change all the time, and 32Red has the ammo to throw a lot of money at big, attractive prizes like holidays and – of course, because of their massive sporting links – season tickets at popular football clubs.

This means it’s always worthwhile making sure your account and email address are up to date at casino sites because you might miss news about new promotions. If you do this, you’ll get plenty of messages urging you to play more, because that’s what all promotions are about – they want you to play for longer periods and more often because that’s how they make money off you. There’s nothing wrong or illegitimate about this, it’s how the industry works, and you should be aware of it when you do play.

32Red Games & Software

The site is built by Microgaming, which is one of the biggest names in the casino business, and another provider we think you can completely rely on. Naturally, if you hate Microgaming casino sites with a passion, then shop elsewhere!

The 32Red games are vast in variety, but not huge in number.

The most recent survey of slots at the site we’ve seen showed over 200 games from 20 games.

The games are arranged on these menus: Featured, slots, live casino, roulette, blackjack, and more games, which includes progressive jackpots, poker, high limit games, table games, and new games. These menus put the total of all games at the site at 302.

32Red Slots

Slots are at the heart of most casinos, and 32Red is no exception. When we visited, the top titles in the featured games section were, Thunder Struck II, Immortal Romance, Mega Moolah (the world’s biggest payer!), Lucky Leprechaun, and The Great Albini.

The featured games also put the Blackjack lobby at the top of the tree.

Mega Moolah is the top of the big jackpot charts too, and you’ll also find Jackpot Deuces, Major Millions, Lotsaloot, and Tunzamunni.

Its newest games included The Great Albini, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Bonanza, Book of Oz, and Snow and Sable.

This is a quality selection and a casino site as well managed as this is going to keep the games coming in we’re sure. When big titles come up you can expect to see them at 32Red, and you can expect locally networked jackpots to grow quickly.

32Red Casino Games

Most players like a little more from their casino than just slots and 32Red give players the chance to pretend they’re living it up in Vegas with a great selection of casino games.

Blackjack sits in the top of the popularity table, as you might expect because almost everyone loves blackjack, the simplest casino card game and the one that offers players the best return. There are 27 blackjack games, which gives players a great choice of the style of game that they want to play.

Next in popularity is roulette. There are 10 versions of this game – the closest a casino game gets to slots – on offer at 32Red. They cover the usual variations between European and American styles of play. (American roulette is not good value for players and should only be played if you really love the game.)

There are also 20 poker games, offering a good choice of variations, and a total of 44 table games covering a wide range of green baize favourites.

Banking

If you want to have something to stake at those tables you’re going to need a way to get money into and out of your account. We’re happy to vouch for the safety of the site and we think you can use its banking services with confidence. Good quality payment partners are something that always adds to the impression of quality at an online casino site, and you’ll find these at 32Red Casino.

Please always be very careful when using any online payment system, even when you trust sites, and always check that you are at a genuine version of the site and that you follow the best protocols for setting passwords and keeping them safe.

You can use PayPal at 32Red, and 32Red would like you to know about it! There’s a good reason for that and it is quite a feather in their cap. PayPal ducked out of the casino market entirely in the early 2000s, in part to protect their American business in a country that has only partially legalised gambling.

Having PayPal on board is great. They do come with a proven record of providing safe and high-quality payment services and are without a doubt the biggest name in internet banking. They do not partner with many casinos and 32Red are right to be proud of their link.

You can also use debit cards, credit cards, Neteller, Skrill (formerly Moneybookers), ECOPayz, Entropay, Paysafecard, and Wire Transfers to the bank at the site.

We have seen a couple of online complaints about slow pay-outs, but, we have seen that about every site we’ve ever looked at. It’s something people always complain about, in part because they sometimes have to verify their identity again. This is a good thing in most ways because it means the site is taking its social responsibilities seriously.

Customer Support

Let’s hope you never need to talk about slow withdrawals or any other problem at 32Red, but if you do have you got a good, quick way to call for help?

It looks like it.

Their “help centre” is huge and always well signposted on the site. It has a massive selection of answers to questions that have been asked. Less easy to find were the actual help contacts for the site, and they are quite numerous, ranging from emails (accounts@32red.com, pitboss@32red.com, general@32red.com, support@32red.com) and phone numbers in a number of European countries, including, thankfully, the UK: 0808 180 3232.

Final Verdict

A lot of the sites we see are relatively new or relatively small scale. 32Red is in a different league, and sits – with a few other select sites – right at the very top of the online gambling world, taking in not just slots, but also sports betting, bingo, and more.

This means it has genuine mainstream appeal and is well known enough to get reviewed on standard consumer sites, not just specialist casino ones like this. We find those reviews a bit troubling because they claim to come from consumers who report on whether or not a site allows them to win as much as they think they should – and often have a conspiracy theory ready as to why they don’t.

Please ignore these 32Red reviews.

This site is fully licensed and independently audited, so if there’s one thing you can do at 32Red, it is to trust the games!

You can also trust the banking, and almost certainly trust that you’ll get great service (full disclosure, we didn’t reach out to check out the help service responses while at the site, but we have seen good reports).

The site looks great, and also promises to keep the rewards flowing for players, not just from a wide variety of the best games but from regular ongoing 32Red promotions.

There are things we don’t like (we’re not big fans of Ant and Dec, and there are a couple of football teams that they sponsor that we’d rather didn’t have our money!), but they’re all pretty standard complaints about the industry.

The small print here is among the clearest, and that makes it clear that the terms on their bonuses are not the best, but are worth checking out even if only as a way to get into this great quality site to take a look around and see how a really good site does its business.
