Videoslots Casino Review

Are you ready to follow the fans into the casino world? Plenty of players from the UK seem to be checking out this site, which has a simple and direct front page that puts the focus on its games rather than on tricks and gimmicks.

The company is actually incorporated in Malta, which is a common jurisdiction for European gambling sites to use. It has a good reputation for the strength of its regulators, and it is in the European Union. It also has low tax rates. And, hell, it’s sunny, and who are we to begrudge some nice beach weather for the people who run online casinos?

However, the roots of VideoSlots are in Sweden, and a group of casino fans who looked around them in 2011 and said, “we could do this.”

The front page puts the focus on games rather than very heavy promotion. That’s not to say the site doesn’t have plenty to promote though, including some very nice welcome bonuses and some other promotions.

Although they’re named for slots – the entry-level into online gambling for many, many players – Online Video Slots is actually a full-function online casino, offering progressive jackpot games, slots of all types, casino card and table games, poker, instant win/scratchcard games, live casino games, and a selection of “other games” that largely focus on instant versions of casino games. The founders are reportedly former poker players.

The site has a big selection of games – many hundreds, in fact – and also allows players to fund their accounts with a very good range of banking options.

Videoslots seem to take their safe gambling responsibilities seriously and show all the right links and logos for safe gambling organisations. Listing their priorities on the site, VideoSlots say of themselves that they would like to provide: “Security, excellence, integrity, clarity, passion, individuality, style, and entertainment.”

That’s easy to say, and there’s obviously a lot to like at this site, but is it worth your while? Let’s see in this review.

Is VideoSlots Casino Safe?

The first thing to say is that the site looks safe. That’s a good start, believe it or not, as most scammers don’t want to go to the effort of putting together a fully functioning website. You can tell a lot by taking a look around a site, and VideoSlots looks really good.

Another superficial sign of a good site is a good set of logos that denote partnerships with other businesses you know to be genuine. Here it’s the good set of reputable payment partners that jumps out, but VideoSlots also puts a huge selection of game designers on their front page, and we’ve mentioned their safe gambling commitments too.

Of course, much more important than all of these is a licence. It must be a valid and current licence. We cannot stress this enough. You must only play at sites that are licensed in your jurisdiction. Most sites, of course, have an international scope so might have a number of licences. In the case of VideoSlots, the licences come from Malta, Sweden, and – good news for UK players – they do indeed have the priceless UK Gambling Commission licence.

It is licence number 39380. It is current. However, there is a note on the licence that the company was found in breach of some of the conditions of its licence. These were to do with money laundering and the social responsibility code.

While this might sound terribly alarming, in reality, customers at sites with such warnings shouldn’t be too concerned for a number of reasons. Firstly, if a company has been allowed to keep its licence after such a judgement (which in this case included making a £1 million donation to harmful gambling research), then they have taken serious action on the problems the Gambling Commission noticed. In fact, VideoSlots was praised – even in being criticised – for recognising it had some problems and taking action on them before enforcement action was taken.

Secondly, these notices aren’t as uncommon as you might think. When the UK decided to stop recognising international gambling licences and only allowing UK nations to play at UK-licensed sites, there was a significant rise in the standards required for sites. Some of them are taking a while to catch up, but the UK is a big market, so if they want to operate here they’ll just need to meet those standards.

UK gamblers deserve quality sites, as do players everywhere, so this is all good news from our point of view.

The same is true of that black mark for “money laundering”, it doesn’t mean that the site is infested with gangsters, but probably that it wasn’t doing enough to verify its users were who they say they are.

No such accusation can be made now, and you will need to go through some hoops to get your account up and running. You’ll have to upload a photographic ID, a proof of address (usually a bill), and a proof of your chosen payment method in most instances. You’ll also need to verify your mobile phone number.

The commitment to safe gambling couldn’t be more apparent now. On the front page of the site are logos from GamStop, Responsible Gaming, age verification, three security and ethics audit marks, a link to gambling addiction support groups, a no-US customers logo, and a proof of independent audit of pay-out percentages.

It’s exhausting how virtuous this site is! They – uniquely as far as we can recall – even invite players to turn up at their offices in Malta and ask for a tour. So, if you haven’t made your holiday plans yet….

Videoslots Casino Welcome Bonus

Welcome bonuses change often. Sometimes they are available for very limited periods. And they are almost always limited by jurisdiction.

In January 2019, the welcome bonus for UK players was 100% bonus funds up to £200 plus £10 extra.

So, now to the small print. The minimum deposit to qualify for this bonus is £10. You will not be able to withdraw any of your bonus funds (which means money won by wagering with your bonus funds) until you have wagered 20 times the value of your original deposit within a week. Payments from your bonus funds are made in 10% increments. Not all games count towards paying off your “wagering requirement” – notably, jackpot games are worth nothing.

These bonus requirements always look terribly restricting when written down. That’s because they are. Players should simply get used to the idea that this is how the industry operates, and reflect, that in doing so it is only acting in a rational way and it’s a shame that marketing laws allow materials that make it look like you are going to be given free money. No business is going to give its customers free money. It doesn’t happen.

The healthiest way to consider welcome bonuses are as free spins that allow you to mitigate some of the risks of gambling and which allow you to look around and check out a site for nothing or half price.

That said, there are a couple of unusual things about this bonus. The first is the time restriction on the wagering requirement. Asking players to spend 20-times their initial deposit in seven days in order to get their hands on bonus funds winnings is unusual, and to be honest, it doesn’t sound as if the site that makes such a restriction is confident that players are going to stick around – and, if that’s the case, players might well ask why.

The other thing is that the wagering requirements are very complicated. It’s all based on a theoretical return to player (RTP) percentages on the games you play, and almost no-one will read and understand these terms, even if they make perfect economic and mathematical sense.

And jackpot games not only do not count towards paying off your wagering requirements if you play one – despite being warned – you will lose all of your bonus funds straight away. OK!

VideoSlots Casino Other Bonuses and Promotions

The site that gives you a load of cash to turn up but then ignores players isn’t going to build much of a community of players, which is what most sites are after.

VideoSlots obviously does want people to stay around – despite its strong restrictions on welcome bonuses – and offers a programme of bonuses and tournaments to its members.

Remember, bonus programmes change all the time and may have a seasonal element, so make sure when you sign up to a casino site that you keep a check on your messages at the site because you could be missing out on promotions you could be taking part in.

At VideoSlots there are two regular, permanent bonuses.

The Weekend Booster offers players the chance to “Win up to £ 300 per day!”

That sounds like fun! How does it work?

It’s a bit complex. VideoSlots says that it adds up all the spins “you would have made during the previous week” on its games, excluding jackpot games, and pay out a “guaranteed win” called the “Weekend Booster”.

So what does that mean? We found it hard to work out. It seems like you are paid the theoretical RTP on your bets, minus operating costs (50%) and multiplied by 25%. So, you’re actually paid a quarter of a half of RTP on the games you play – excluding jackpot games, and excluding any other bonuses you have.

That’s a fine little bonus, and not to be sniffed at, but it’s a shame it isn’t more honestly trailed (though we have to admit, that trailing is entirely in line with industry practices).

The other major bonus is the Clash of Spins. These come in three types: Spin Clash, Big Win Clash, and Multiplier Clash. These are timed slot tournaments that run all the time. Winners take away a share of a prize pool that usually is filled with thousands of free spins. If you like tournament play, which brings a social element to your gaming.

VideoSlots Games and Software

We cannot find any record of VideoSlots using operating software from another provider, so it seems likely that it has produced its own operating systems. Good for them! There are no downloads needed to play at VideoSlots and the site doesn’t yet have a mobile app, so you need to browse to the site with your phone to play on small screens.

That allows a site more independence to promote itself in the ways it pleases, to promote the games it likes, and to host the games it likes.

When it comes to games, Videoslots has them in spades – and hearts, clubs and diamonds. They have slots, big jackpot slots, table games, card games, video poker, live casino, and instant wins and other types of games.

There are too many games to cover in full here, but the range and quality is impressive.

They are divided into mobile-friendly infinitely scrolling screens.

Among the areas you can look for games are by provider – and there are a huge number of providers – and also by a large number of other ways, including by newness (we love novelty in this business), by pay-lines, by various features. You can sort games by popularity and by name.

At the time we visited the site there were 3,408 games in total. Wow! Fitting into these categories: jackpots, video slots, slots, blackjack, roulette, video poker, scratch cards, other games, live casino, and casino games. Some of those overlap, but you should be able to find what you’re looking for easily enough.

Slots at VideoSlots Casino

There are slots from all the big companies here. Really, if there’s a slot out there it’s very unlikely that you won’t find it at this site, which has a really comprehensive selection.

To just look at some of the most popular games at the site, you’ll find:

Rocket Fellas Inc, Book of Dead, Ivan and the Immortal King, Bonanza, Danger High Voltage, Halloween Jack, Extra Chilli and Jammin Jars at the top of the charts.

The top “jackpot slots” which means progressives, are: Top Cat, Super Lucky Reels, Cleopatra Mega Jackpots, Beehive Bedlam, Slots of Gold, Mega Moolah Isis, Mega Moolah, and Furballs.

We can’t list anything like a comprehensive survey here, even of games developers, but to take a quick sampling of them, we found: Play’n Go, PG, Fortune Factory, Genii, Felt, Core Gaming, Blueprint Gaming, Gamevy, IGT, JFTW, Quickspin, Aurify, Bally, Barcrest, NETENT, and so on and so on and so on.

This selection covers every genre, type and style of game you can imagine. And this is a very mobile-friendly site – you can tell just by looking at the design – so you can expect a load of games aimed at small screen players, who are rapidly becoming the dominant majority in this market.

Casino Games at VideoSlots Casino

There’s a big choice in casino games too.

Clicking the Blackjack link brings up two pages of games, including a huge number of variants. There are fewer titles for roulette, but they cover all the standard variations. This is primarily between American and European and French games – American games provide the worst value for players and we’re always surprised to find that people still play them.

Want to play these games live? Well as yet you’ll have to wait because the Live Casino tab on our visit returned a blank screen. We can only assume either that there was a glitch or that – as seems more likely – VideoSlots plan to enter this exciting area of the industry soon and just haven’t got their games together yet.

You can play poker at this site, but it’s video poker rather than live games. There are more than 20 games to check out in this category.

Other games at VideoSlots Casino

Beyond these standard categories are “scratch card” games. These are often styled as instant wins on other sites and are just about the simplest form of gambling you can take part in. There’s a good page-full of them at VideoSlots Casino.

There is also an “other games” tab, which includes some variations on bingo, keno, and also some casino games that haven’t been included elsewhere on the site.

All in all, there’s a massive choice of games from high-quality companies at VideoSlots Casino and we’ll be amazed if you can’t find something to your taste here.

Banking

When you win you want to get paid, right? Encouragingly, VideoSlots lists a large number of reputable payment partners on its front page.

In January 2019 – and lists like this can be subject to change – you can deposit and withdraw for free with Visa and MasterCard, Paysafecard, SKRILL, Neteller, Instant Banking by Citadel, Neosurf, EcoPayz, Flexepin, Instadebit, EUteller, Entropay, Interac, SMS voucher, Trustly, Zimpler, SIRU Mobile, and Klarna.

That’s a great selection, covering most eventualities. It’s a shame not to see PayPal there, but perhaps that’s one that will be added in future.

VideoSlots Casino provides detailed information on the payment times you can expect to experience for all of these payment methods, and a large part of their FAQ pages are also devoted to payment.

Customer Support

Talking of which… customer support is vital. Things look good at VideoSlots Casino, but to give full disclosure in this review, the true quality of customer service and support services are only really found when one uses them for real.

However, we can say that the site promises that their customer services are available 24/7 and across the board geographically to players who can use the site. This includes a chat option and also an email address. The site is also active on Facebook and talks to players there and even seems to get involved in well-known online gambling forums talking to people who say they have problems with the site.

The information at the site is well signposted, accurate and well written, and hopefully, a good read of this, including some very good FAQs will stop you ever needing to hit that help button.

VideoSlots Final Verdict

This is a site that definitely lives up to its name and delivers a huge number of our favourite titles and many more we haven’t yet heard of to players in a pleasing format that is sure to find lots of fans.

You cannot fault VideoSlots for their game offering. Certainly not when it comes to slots. Some poker players might find they want more and the site really needs to get its live casino offering up and running.

The site is good quality and well designed and seems to have good services. There are some minor complaints though. The conditions on the welcome bonus are tough, and like some of the terms of conditions are explained in a way that seems a little over-complicated.

However, the existence of a healthy social media presence and an ongoing bonus system that seems generous is good. As is the relatively simple design which doesn’t try to blind players with huge special-offer splashes.

If you’re getting a mixed picture here that’s fair. We love a whole lot of things about this site and we think you should absolutely check it out. But it is not the best site we’ve ever seen and we think it’s fair to say that there are a couple of things that could be improved.

That’s nit-picking though in the face of one of the biggest selections of high-quality slots anywhere on the web that are super easy to find your way around on a site that looks like it’s going to go to some exciting places. Check it out.
